Chickasaw County Community Foundation Distributes $145,285 to Local Nonprofit Organizations

The Chickasaw County Community Foundation (CCCF) held its 2023 grant awards celebration at the New Hampton Community Center on April 19, announcing the distribution of $145,285 to 24 projects of organizations serving Chickasaw County through its 2023 grant cycle.

“Our nonprofit partners are working hard to make an impact across our county and the Chickasaw County Community Foundation is honored to be able to provide grants to support them in their efforts,” said Kelly O’Donnell, chair of the CCCF committee.

Arts & Culture

  • Freedom Strippers Quilts of Valor, Honoring our Veterans, $2,000

Community Betterment

  • Chickasaw Township Fire District, Fire Hose Replacement, $4,500
  • City of Alta Vista, Fire Department – Brush/Utility Vehicle, $4,500
  • City of Alta Vista, Library – Central Air, $3,560
  • City of New Hampton, Administration – Storm Preparedness, $10,000
  • City of New Hampton, Police Department – Safety Equipment, $10,000
  • Fredericksburg Firefighter Association, LUNAR Search and Rescue Devices, $5,978
  • Lawler Firefighters Foundation, Thermal Imager, $8,500
  • New Hampton Firefighters’ Association, Equipment Replacement, $9,850
  • Protivin Firefighters, Radios for the Protivin Fire, $7,663

Human Service

  • City of Fredericksburg, Fredericksburg Food Bank, $3,500
  • Northeast Iowa Food Bank, Feeding Families, $5,000
  • Project Flo Association, Building Stronger Communities, $3,000

Decisions on grant awards are determined by a local committee, which consists of volunteers from Chickasaw County. Committee members include: Kelly O’Donnell (chair), Jeff Berns, John Cuvelier, Rhonda Dean, Mary Gruenberg, Tara Hackman, Michelle Hoy, Lara Lawrence, Courtney Lechtenberg, Dana Lentz, Bill Meyer, Kristen Nosbisch, Kristi Reicks and Matthew Ysbrand.

Grants are awarded through CCCF’s competitive grant process to projects in the program areas of arts and culture, community betterment, education and youth development, environment and animal welfare, health and human service. Grant applicants must be a 501(c)(3) designated organization or government entity serving Chickasaw County in order to be considered for funding. More information about the CCCF can be found at
