Ackley Community Foundation Distributes $7,985 to Local Nonprofit Organizations

The Ackley Community Foundation held its 2022 grant awards celebration at the Ackley Recreation Club on Oct. 23, announcing the distribution of $7,985 in grants to three projects of organizations serving Ackley.

“Our local nonprofits are core to our community. We are proud to support these organizations this year and their work in creating a more vibrant community for the people of Ackley,” said Matt McNeal, chair of the Ackley Community Foundation governing committee.

Grant recipient organization, project the grant will fund, and grant amount are listed below by funding area.

Community Betterment

  • Ackley Development Commission, Chamber of Commerce – Kraut Wagon Update, $950
  • Friends of Prairie Bridges Park, Bathroom/Shelter House, $4,600

Education & Youth Development

  • AGWSR Community School District, Elementary Library – See It and Read It, $2,435

Decisions on grant awards are determined by a local committee, which consists of volunteers from the Ackley area. Committee members include Paula Abbas, Sheryl Arends, Krista Dieken, Jason Gabel, Becky Jansonius, Darren Janssen, Barb Keninger, Matt McNeal and Taresa Trueblood.

Grants are awarded through Ackley Community Foundation’s competitive grant process to projects in the program areas of arts and culture, community betterment, education and youth development, environment and animal welfare, health and human service. Grants are available to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations and government entities serving Ackley to be considered for funding. Tax-exempt organizations classified as other than 501(c)(3) are also eligible, if and only if, the project is deemed charitable. The 2023 grant cycle opens May 15 with an application deadline of July 15. The grant guidelines and application will be available at www.ackleycf.org.
