About the Waterloo Regional Airport

The Waterloo Regional Airport is a primary commercial service airport serving Waterloo-Cedar Falls and a ten-county market. American Airlines provides daily round-trip service to Chicago. The airport is not only a means of transportation for local residents but is essential to the regional economy.

The Waterloo Regional Airport is supporting the following economic benefits: 533 jobs, $14.7 million in annual payroll, and $64.3 million in annual economic activity or output.

Improving Air Service in the Cedar Valley

Enhancement of the Waterloo Regional Airport is crucial to the Cedar Valley’s future as a regional economic leader. A working group of community leaders has been established to collaborate to improve commercial air service at the Waterloo Regional Airport for the economic benefit of the Cedar Valley Region. Improving air service in the Cedar Valley and bringing increased economic success to our communities improves the quality of life for all residents.

The air service working group, a committee of Grow Cedar Valley, is working on behalf of the Waterloo Regional Airport and has established three main objectives to improve commercial air service:

  1. Increase commercial passenger service at the Waterloo Regional Airport, maintain the current two flights per day to Chicago, and add an additional flight to a new hub destination.
  2. Establish a framework for regional cooperation to achieve this additional air service.
  3. Improve economic success of the region through improved commercial air service.
Support Improving Air Service in the Cedar Valley

The Cedar Valley Air Service Improvement Fund has been established with the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa to help support air service priorities to expand and strengthen Waterloo Air Service operations. Expenditures could include hiring an air service consultant, marketing and outreach efforts, and other strategic approaches to improve air services through the Waterloo Airport. Funds will be directed and monitored by the Grow Cedar Valley Air Service Working group. Gifts to the Improving Cedar Valley Air Service Fund are tax deductible as allowed by law. Gifts of stock, IRA gifts, and other assets can be accepted. You will receive an acknowledgment of your gift to the Fund from CFNEIA, an accredited local community foundation.

Air Service Project funding remains separate from your Grow Cedar Valley investment.
