When you establish a community impact (discretionary) fund with the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa, your gift is used to address significant challenges and opportunities across the region through our competitive grant cycles.

Target community Needs

As community needs change, so will the projects your fund supports. 

The Community Foundation funds a broad spectrum of organizations addressing areas of arts and culture, community betterment, education and youth development, environment and animal welfare, health, human services, and other identified priority areas. The flexibility of a community impact fund allows us to respond to the community’s most pressing needs, today and tomorrow.

How it Works

  • You make an unrestricted gift to the Community Foundation during your lifetime or through a bequest in your will. You can give cash, appreciated stocks, real estate, or other assets. 
  • We set up a special fund in your name, in the name of your family or business, or in honor of any person or organization you choose. 
  • You may receive tax benefits in the year your gift is made. 
  • Our local volunteer committees evaluate grant applications submitted by nonprofit organizations and government entities and recommend grants to the areas of greatest community need. 

You can establish a community impact fund with a minimum gift of $10,000 to support the grantmaking impact of your local community foundation.
