Nick Herman grew up in Waterloo, Iowa and was a 2012 graduate of Columbus Catholic High School. He was ambitious and a hard worker who often held two jobs while attending school full-time. Nick’s work and volunteer experiences provided him with opportunities for learning and service while pursuing his true passion for the outdoors.
In Nick’s honor, his family has established the Nick Herman Outdoors Scholarship Fund. The Nick Herman Outdoors Scholarship Fund with the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa provides one-year scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in a college, university, or community college in Iowa with a priority for those who are pursuing a degree in Natural Resources and Conservation or a related degree. Students must be a graduate of a high schools located in Iowa. Preference is given to students who are further along on their degree track, demonstrate financial need, and are involved in community service or volunteerism. Selected students are eligible to reapply for this scholarship in subsequent years provided they still meet the criteria listed.
