Scholarship Criteria
Two-year scholarships for students graduating from Independence High School who are pursuing a degree at an accredited nonprofit vocational technical school or community college within the state of Iowa and who demonstrate the abilities required to successfully complete the requirements of the institution chosen. Preference goes to students pursuing a vocational technical degree, and, to a secondary extent, students who demonstrate financial need.
Give to the Fund
Financial gifts to the Gladys M. and Norman Clare Sloan Scholarship Fund with the Buchanan County Community Foundation allows the Community Foundation to award financial assistance to students pursuing higher education. As the cost of tuition continues to rise, it is more important now than ever to diminish the barrier of affordability and allow students to focus on what is most important - their education.
