Year-End Giving Deadlines to Remember
As we approach the end of 2025, the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa is here to help you make the most of your year-end giving. The timing of your charitable gifts determines your eligibility for a charitable income tax deduction in the 2025 tax year. Please review the following important deadlines to ensure your gifts are completed on time.
Publicly Traded Securities
We encourage you to communicate with your broker early, as many brokerage firms have their own year-end deadlines. To ensure your gift is completed on time, please initiate stock gifts no later than Thursday, December 18, 2025. Before making your transfer, contact our Charitable Impact team at give@cfneia.org for the appropriate transfer instructions.
Complex Assets
If you plan to give complex assets, such as real estate, closely held business interests, or other non-cash assets, please contact our Charitable Impact team at give@cfneia.org by Monday, December 9, 2025. This allows adequate time for review and approval before year-end.
Checks
Checks sent through the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) must be postmarked on or before December 31, 2025. Checks sent through carriers such as FedEx, UPS, or DHL must be physically received at the CFNEIA office by December 31, 2025.
Wire and ACH Transfers (Initiated at Your Bank)
Wire and ACH transfers must be received into CFNEIA accounts by December 31, 2025. Please check with your financial institution regarding their specific year-end processing deadlines.
Credit Cards
Online credit card contributions must be submitted via cfneia.org/give-now by 11:59 p.m. on December 31, 2025.
Grant requests should be submitted through your fundholder portal by 5 p.m. on Friday, November 28, 2025. If you have questions about submitting your grant or would like an alternative form of submitting your grant, please email our Donor Relations team at donorrelations@cfneia.org.
Please note that the timing of grants does not affect your charitable income tax deduction.
The Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa office will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2025.
