Upper Des Moines Opportunity,  Inc. Emmet County Coats for Kids Program, helps low-income families at or below 200% poverty level by providing weather appropriate coats for children to keep them safe in harsh Iowa winters. In 2018, the program provided coats, hats, and gloves to 169 children with the help of a grant from the Emmet County Community Foundation. Having a quality winter coat helps children stay well, miss less school, and have more opportunities for happiness, enjoying fun winter activities.
