Grantmaking Snapshot: Vehicle Extrication Tools
Every second counts for first responders, including the Lawler Fire Department. A grant from the Chickasaw County Community Foundation and community support made it possible for the Lawler Firefighters Foundation to purchase vehicle rescue tools, also known as Jaws of Life, to safely remove victims of vehicle accidents with entrapment. Prior to having these tools, the fire department would have to wait for assistance from other departments. Having these tools on hand in preparation for an emergency drastically improves a victim’s chance of survival.
