Grantmaking Snapshot: Messiah's Food Pantry
When Messiah’s Food Pantry saw an increase in food insecurity this past year but were not able to open due to COVID-19, they shifted their operations to get food out the door and into the community. A mobile food pantry was established through a partnership with the Northeast Iowa Food Bank and the National Guard to allow individuals and families to pick up essential groceries. The pantry also worked with DHS and public health to coordinate grocery delivery for those quarantining or suffering from the coronavirus, ensuring the safety and well-being of all.
