Chickasaw County Community Foundation Awards $143,738 in 2024 Grants to 19 County Projects

The Chickasaw County Community Foundation (CCCF) has announced the distribution of $143,738 to 19 projects of organizations serving Chickasaw County through its 2024 grant cycle.

“The Chickasaw County Community Foundation is proud to uplift organizations creating an impact in our county. We are eager to see these projects come to life in Chickasaw County,” said Michelle Hoy, chair of the CCCF committee.

The 2024 grant recipient organizations, project the grant will fund, and grant amount is listed below by funding area.

Arts & Culture

  • Freedom Strippers Quilts of Valor - Quilting Supplies - $2,000

Community Betterment

  • Chickasaw County - Auditor - EMA - Underwater Search and Rescue Equipment - $7,098
  • Chickasaw County, Auditor - Sheriff's Office Mobile Communications - $7,240
  • Chickasaw Township Fire District - LUNAR Search and Rescue Devices - $5,500
  • City of Alta Vista - Fire Department, SCBAs - $10,000
  • City of Alta Vista - Library, Siding - $10,000
  • City of Lawler - Library, Building Expansion - $5,700
  • City of New Hampton - Parks & Recreation, Pool Restoration - $10,000
  • City of New Hampton - Police Department, UTV - $10,000
  • City of North Washington - Fire Department, Thermal Imaging Camera - $6,000
  • Fredericksburg Firefighter Association - Firefighter Helmets - $10,000
  • Nashua Volunteer Firefighters Association - Thermal Imaging Camera - $10,000
  • New Hampton Firefighters' Association - Drone Project - $10,000

Education & Youth Development

  • Fun in the Son Daycare and Preschool - Security and Equipment Updates - $5,000
  • Sumner-Fredericksburg Community Schools Activities Department - Weight Room - $5,000
  • Sumner-Fredericksburg Community Schools Middle/High School - Hope Squad - $5,200

Environment & Animal Welfare

  • Chickasaw County, Auditor - Conservation Board - Outdoor Classroom/Pavilion - $10,000

Human Service

  • Northeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging, Inc. - NEI3A Chickasaw County Meal Program - $5,000
  • Northeast Iowa Food Bank - Feeding Families - $10,000

Decisions on grant awards are determined by a local committee, which consists of volunteers from Chickasaw County. Committee members include: Jeff Berns, Mary Gruenberg, Tara Hackman, Michelle Hoy (chair), Lara Lawrence, Courtney Lechtenberg, Dana Lentz, Bill Meyer, Kristen Nosbisch, Kristi Reicks, Nick Winter and Matthew Ysbrand.

Grants are awarded through CCCF’s competitive grant process to projects in the program areas of arts and culture, community betterment, education and youth development, environment and animal welfare, health and human service. Grant applicants must be a 501(c)(3) designated organization or government entity serving Chickasaw County in order to be considered for funding.
