Grantmaking Snapshot: Hazleton Skate Park

Nine years ago, the idea of a skate park was introduced by a lifetime Hazleton resident looking to bring a positive, healthy outdoor activity for kids to the area. The City of Hazleton Skate Park Committee formed and garnered community support, including from the Buchanan County Community Foundation, and the idea became a reality when the Hazleton Skate Park officially opened in June of this year. The new facility welcomes skateboarders, bicyclists, and roller skaters of all ages and experience levels. It is drawing people to the area and connected by trail to Fontana Park and close to local businesses.
