Arnold and Lucy Hageman raised 11 children, all of whom graduated from South Winneshiek High School. Five of their 11 children currently reside in northeast Iowa. Their 10th child, Andy, graduated from South Winneshiek High School in the class of 1991. He attended Hawkeye Community College and completed his certificate in CNC (Computer Numerical Control) Machining. Andy later attended the University of Northern Iowa, but due to illness, was not able to complete his degree. Andy died in 2016 of colon cancer.When Andy was going through his cancer treatments, his wife, Christina, and his siblings hosted a benefit to raise funds to help pay his medical expenses. The response from the community was extremely generous and overwhelming.Andy’s dying wish was to establish a scholarship in his parents’ name to honor them and the family he so deeply loved.
