Good Things Happening Photo Contest Winners Announced

Winners of the Good Things Happening Photo Contest were announced on November 3 at the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa's Celebration of Community. 

Three $1,000 runner-up grant awards (photos below) and one $5,000 grand prize grant (photo above) were directed to nonprofits selected by the winning photographers. Runner-up awards went to Chris Hofeldt who selected Cedar Valley Hospice, Lindsay Pieters who selected Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity and Adam Amdor who selected The Covenant Foundation. Diane Mc Intosh was awarded the grand prize, selecting Sing Me to Heaven as the grant recipient.

The Good Things Happening photo contest was a four-week contest in September that encouraged people to submit photos of the good things they saw happening in Black Hawk County. In addition to the above grant winners, four weekly winners of a $500 grant were selected on Facebook during the contest. Weekly winners were Courtney Collins, selecting Cedar Bend Humane Society, Jaymie Redfern, selecting I HOPE, Beth Lavenz, selecting Cedar Valley Arboretum and Botanic Gardens, Missy Denning, selecting Family and Children's Council of Black Hawk County.
