Women In Philanthropy (WIP) is an initiative developed by the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa to promote the intellectual and economic growth of women.
Women In Philanthropy
Women in Philanthropy is the study of motivations, attitudes and giving patterns of women in today's culture. Membership is open to all women interested in making a difference in the lives of women and girls through philanthropy. The initiative also distributes grants from the Women's Fund at the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa to benefit projects supporting women and girls.
NEXT MEETING
Our next WIP meeting will be Wednesday, June 23 from 11:30am-1:00pm at the home of Bobbi Kazenelson. We will be welcoming speakers from YWCA to discuss the needs of the Hispanic women, girls and families in our community. For more information, please contact our office at (319) 287-9106.
MISSION
The Mission of Women in Philanthropy (WIP) is divided into three areas. All three areas educate and inspire women to become leaders in philanthropy.

1. Women's Network
The Community Foundation has built a network of existing women donors who are interested in educational programs recognizing importance of personal estate planning, the power of giving and tax advantages of charitable giving. Guest speakers are brought in to facilitate discussions and inform WIP members about community needs and trends.
2. Women's Fund
A Women's Fund was established within the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa in 1999. This endowment fund was made possible by a lead gift of $50,000 from a donor who continually supports issues affecting women and girls.
Income from this Fund will be used to support programs and projects which focus on issues of interest to women and girls. Individuals and corporations are encouraged to increase the size of this Fund.
While the members of WIP will advise grants from this endowment, the fund also seeks to recognize the advancement and full participation of women as full philanthropic partners in the Cedar Valley.
In this community, the Women's Fund demonstrates to women how to use their wealth to promote the programs and institutions they care about. Anyone interested in helping the needs of women and children can contribute to the Fund.
3. Increase the Impact
Increase the Impact is an annual opportunity for WIP members who choose to contribute $1,000 annually to a WIP In & Out Fund. All donations put into this Fund will be gifted each holiday season to one needy agency. This gift will be made after careful study and through the recommendation of the donors to the Fund.
Membership to Women in Philanthropy
Membership to WIP is open to all women interested in having fun with philanthropy. Annual dues of $100 ($80 of which is tax-deductible) are billed in September and are used to cover meeting expenses and to increase the Women's Fund endowment.
